November Newsletter

November Greetings:

On this rainy, full moon evening everything feels full. As we celebrate this post-election week and feel the fullness of change, evolution and a “Yes We Can” attitude, all feels complete. The nation, the world unites coming together to generate hope of a brighter, better future. Together we voted, together we work, united we flow. Listening to the messages of union we think Yoga ! Yoga helps us unify that which feels separate, merge into wholeness, and this is the very same message the leaders of our country expound. We are part of a universal, collective Yogic movement and whether we connect on or off the mat – being Yoga is living Yoga.

Ananda celebrates it’s first holiday season and continue to create a place of gathering, community for us not just to do Yoga/Pilates but also to learn, grow, evolve and transform to become the change we seek in the world. November is full of events to support your living yoga path. Join us as we continue to host workshops and trainings that will inspire and rejuvenate your life journey.

blessings of bliss,

living yoga …. being

Fall brings change and transition as we move inward in the flow of nature as seen by the trees, birds, plants, and climate. Our body can often reflet this change through dryness in our skin, joints, or colon in addition to other imbalances generated by movement, change (Vata). To offset these principles Ayurvda suggests we:
– enjoy daily abhyanga (self oil massage) with herbalized oils like Vata oil or Organic Sesame Oil.
– slow down, meditate, relax
– enjoy a steady, grounding Vinysa Flow practice
– eat warm, nourishing foods and avoid dry, astringent foods like salads and nuts.
– drink warm tea, avoiding excess caffeine

Visvamitrasana

We delve into all variations and aspects of Visvamitrasana in our level 2/3 classes in November and December. The story of Vishvamitra, the life of the sage this pose is devoted is very much like the steps we have to honor to reach the full expression. To make a long, long story short (as most Hindu epics are long), Vishvamitra was first a King, that after an encounter with Sage Vaisistha, endured long, long practices of austerity (tapasya). After many years and many escapades he was named a Sage. Vishvamitra is one of the 24 Rishis mentioned in sacred texts and may have authored Mandala 3 in the RigVeda along with the Gayatri Mantra.
