Kristen Townsend
Yoga and Pilates Instructor

Kristen began asana practice and movement exploration at 18 months of age through dance, gymnastics, and figure skating in which she spent 15 years as a competitive figure skater. As a result of a knee injury, she began to regularly attend yoga classes, which aided in a multi-layered healing process. After inchworming her way through many yoga classes and pursuing more knowledge about this wonderful practice, Kristen joined Shiva Rea’s Prana Flow Yoga Teacher Training program under the mentorship of Maria Garre. Kristen has since traveled to study with Shiva Rea, Ana Forrest, and Saul David Ray.
In 2004 Kristen began practicing Pilates to enhance her training on the ice. After experiencing the wonderful enhancement that Pilates made in her skating, she sought Pilates mat certification through Power Pilates to teach it to her own skating students. As she continued to explore her body through movement, she has developed an appreciation for all that the human body can do, and has learned that healing comes through movement. Kristen has completed both Basic Mat and Intermediate Mat certification through Power Pilates.
