Yoga Instructor

Kimmer has been practicing different styles of yoga off and on for the last 10 years. In 2008 she took her first Prana Flow class and immediately fell in love with the beauty, creativity and freedom of the practice. After 30+ years of wear and tear on her body as a gymnast, collegiate swimmer and avid runner her love for physical fitness began to take its toll on her body. Multiple injuries and arthritis made it difficult to remain physically fit. Additionally, life became more complex as she became a mother of 2 boys, worked as a flight attendant and created her own floral business. Now in her 40’s Kimmer finds Yoga to help fulfill many needs while keeping her grounded through her busy lifestyle. “Yoga can be physically challenging, creative, nurturing and calming all at the same time.” Teaching comes naturally for Kimmer through her ability to connect with others. The daughter of two educators, she was provided with many examples of “Living Yoga.” In 2009 she completed her 200hour RYT in Prana Flow with Maria Garre as well as Anjali Restorative Yoga with Shannon Paige Schneider. Recently she has returned from Costa Rica where she studied with Shiva Rae. She continues to study and use yoga as a wonderfully effective tool to keep life in perspective. When not teaching, Kimmer enjoys spending time with her family and nature at their Farm in Middletown.

A Day of Events

to support the

Usha Yoga Foundation

Saturday, January 30th

… to be a Yogi, is to be in service… Reema Datta

Be a Yogi, even if you’ve never struck a pose.

On January 30th, Be Well Frederick will sponsor a day of events with all the proceeds going to the Usha Yoga Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit. We want to sponsor our own yoga teacher somewhere in the world, teaching yoga as a tool of empowerment to those most in need. Join us and meet Reema, who will spend the day with us. But hurry to purchase your tickets, as space is very limited.

Usha Yoga Workshop: 10:00 to 12:30pm – tickets sold in advance – $35
Breath, Movement, Philosophy – Join Reema Datta for a workshop that reflects the diverse set of spiritual teachings she has explored over the last 14 years. As she guides us through a dynamic flow of yoga breathing and postures, she brings together ancient healing techniques and philosophies of Native South Americans, Egyptians, Celtics, South Africans, and Tibetans. The class will not only leave you feeling lighter and stronger, it will inspire you to practice yoga regularly in 2010 as a means to heal yourself and be a positive, powerful, healing influence on your family, community and beyond. Appropriate for all levels.

Wellness Connections Social & Fundraiser: 1:00 to 3:00pm – Free
Be Well Frederick and the Holistic Health Community host a casual social open to the public. Come and meet not only Reema Datta and her family, but dozens of the local Holistic Practitioners as we gather as one to send a Yoga Teacher to a community in need. Reema’s Book & CDs will be offered for sale as well as many donated items in a silent auction. Aimee Firor McBride is an active member on the advisory board for Be Well Frederick so feel free to chat with Aimee about the upcoming events of Be Well Frederick.

 Meditation Workshop: 3:00 to 5:00pm – Tickets sold in advance – $35
Meditation for Clarity & Creation – Understand the benefits of meditation, the magic, and the potential to create your deam by understanding the power of your mind. Learn how to develop a meditation practice, and techniques to clear blockages in your subtle body. Engage in several led meditations. This session will also draw on techniques enjoyed by spiritual aspirants around the world from the Celtics and Native Americans to the Tibetans and Indians. Thoroughly appropriate for a beginner, yet rewarding as a group exercise to even the most experienced.

Usha Yoga Foundation Benefit Dinner: 6:30 to 9:30p – Tickets sold in advance – $50
Dinner with Reema – Join Reema Datta, her family and Be Well Frederick representatives for an intimate night together to benefit the Foundation. Mingle with drinks beforehand, and then Reema will tell us the latest about the Foundation’s work and our resluts of the day. Enjoy and authentic Indian meal and be entertained by Garba dancers in beautiful dress. Guaranteed to be the energetic climax to a day in service.
