Summer Greetings !
The summer is in full swing with the warm sun, long days, and energy in the air. Although we are inclined to wanting to stay cool in the summer, sweating is good. The process of sweating has a cleansing energy leaving you feeling renewed and transformed. In yoga – it is said that you should have a bead of sweat down your spine as well as in Pilates. Although it’s great to feel cool – don’t be afraid of a little sweat to feed the soul during summer. It’s the natural process that all creatures go through in a seasonal climate. Summer is a time to get active and shed the stagnation from winter.
The Ananda staff has experienced great abundance this past month with tremendous turnout for our Summer Solstice event on the Creek and our 1 year anniversary celebration. Thanks to all who joined us and participated. Both events were beautiful gatherings of friends in the community. Since then our senior teachers have remained busy in the flow. Kristen has returned all juiced up from 3 weeks in Greece w/ Shiva Rea! Maria also just returned from Kripalu w/ Shiva and 15 days w/ Dr Lad at the Ayurvedic Institute in NM. Maria is expanding on her Kripalu Ayurvedic training w/ graduate level training w/ marma therapy (energetic points) and an advanced clinical practicum. We are looking forward to more Ayurvedic workshops w/ Maria to come in the near future!
Our summer class schedule remains the same with two exceptions per your request. We have returned to 3 lunchtime classes per week (Tues, Wed & Fri). Lunchtime classes are only $10 or can be used as part of your monthly membership or class card. Also – the friday 7am class has been moved to 6am to allow those who need time to get to work after class. Be sure to check online for the most updated schedule.
Lastly – if you’re interested in receiving free yoga/pilates classes in exchange for helping out at the studio, please let us know. We have jobs available for those who want to become a more integral part of something wonderful. Also – we have space for rent for an individual or group of wellness practitioners. Give us a call or stop by!

Yoga Teacher Training - Even if you’re not in our full 200 hour teacher training program, you can join in some of the teacher training workshop modules (all affililate Shiva Rea teacher training programs). If you are already a RYT certified yoga instructor, are accumulating hours to receive your certification, or just want to deepen your understanding of yoga and/or Ayurveda there is something for everyone. mantra of the month “om breathe” … In class you will learn how to relax and unwind as well as how to breath in the face of challenge. Yes – you will encounter challenges when you come into a yoga class, just as you will encounter challenges in your daily life. May our mantra be to just breath in and to breath out. It’s wonderful when we meet challenges on the mat. As one of our our beloved senior yoga instructors (Andrew) says. We all have struggles yet somehow we feel we are the only ones. The beautiful thing is that when we are met w/ struggles, it’s just an opportunity for greatness to come through. So embrace the challenges you face on the mat w/ a smile. Breathe through them as your instructor will guide you to do. Soon the challenge begins to dissipate as the true essence of the breath begins to shine through. The idea is to take this feeling with you when you leave your yoga mat and to carry it w/ you throughout your days. We will all have stresses & tensions that will creep up but perhaps we can learn to breath & smile through them instead.

Please enjoy the courtyard and herb garden either before or after class. Use this time to absorb your yoga or Pilates session before you rush out. The purpose of the studio is to provide a place of gathering for our friends & the community. Grab a magazine, a glass of water and take advantage of the space and make yourself at home. Feel free to take some herbs from the garden home w/ you.
