This is a unique teacher training program based upon Shiva Rea’s foundational teacher training modules of vinyasa flow yoga that honors the flow of prana within vinyasa yoga. Offering Embodying the Flow as the root training along with Pathways of Flow and Mandala of Asana: an energetic approach to alignment. Shiva’s unique style of sequencing, wave theory, and class design are taught as part of this 200 hour program in addition to Ayurveda and Yogic Philosophy. We weave the roots of Yoga, Ayurveda, and Tantra offering students an innovative approach to teaching and living Yoga. This is the perfect program for those wishing to study Shiva’s style of Yoga near their home Yoga studio in a monthly intensive format. The program usually lasts from 6 to 9 months depending on course of study and schedule.
Through this program you can either deepen your knowledge and love of yoga as a student or budding teacher. Each weekend offers a wide diversity of teachings and inspirational activities. We blend theory, practice, and philosophy as a rich and rasa (juice) filled experience to enliven you life and teachings.
Graduates of our 200 affiliate program have the opportunity of continuing with our 300 hour program with Shiva Rea for a complete 500 hour teacher study certification. All of our teacher studies program are registered through Yoga Alliance (RYS 200 and 500)

Aimee Firor McBride
Owner, Pilates and Yoga Instructor

A native of Frederick, Aimee Firor McBride is the owner of Ananda Shala. She began as a physical fitness instructor in 1996 and has focused solely on yoga & Pilates for over 10 of those years. As a fitness instructor, she quickly became interested in yoga primarily for the mental and health benefits that helped counteract the effects of the corporate world. Aimee almost immediately saw the positive effects on stress management as well as overall physical fitness. In addition, Aimee discovered the benefits of Pilates to strengthen her core and help her with back pain that resulted from spine issues as a child. Aimee appreciates the healing power of living naturally through holistic means and wishes to continue to share her experiences to help others. When Aimee is not teaching or running the studio you will find her with her baby boy Kalen and husband Dave.
Aimee has obtained extensive training through many different yoga and Pilates teacher training programs. She completed the Power Pilates System Level I to III Certification training. Her Pilates teachers and training has led her to study with Janine Galati of Philadelphia, Bob Liekens of New York and Erin Horst of Annapolis. Aimee has trained and studied with several Senior level Yoga teachers including Sharon Gannon, Saul David Ray, David Swensen, and her primary teacher Shiva Rea. She has completed over 500 hours of yoga teacher studies including traveling to India to study yoga, tantra, thai yoga, and ayurveda.
Maria Garre
Creative Director

Maria Garre was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and grew up in Frederick, MD where she completed undergraduate studies at Hood College in Biology and Eastern Philosophy. After college, Maria pursued a graduate program in Biomedical Sciences at Hood College in addition to working as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor with ACE and AFAA certifications. Her passion for fitness consequently led to her purchase the Frederick Fitness Center. She owned and managed the club for five years. During this time she was introduced to both yoga and Pilates and began a formal teacher-training program with Janine Galati in both disciplines at the Alternative Health and Fitness in Philadelphia. She studied full time for two years in Yoga and Pilates and then pursued a Masters Degree in Education at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia.
Over the past 10 years Maria Garre has traveled extensively throughout the world, including repeated travels to India to study with Master Teachers including Sharon Gannon, Judith Lasater, David Swensen, Ana Forrest and others. In 2000, Maria began to study under world renown Yoga teacher Shiva Rea, her current teacher. Maria is now a Senior Teacher Training Assistant and Directs Shiva’s Teacher Training Program world-wide. Maria currently leads several 200 hour Teacher Training Programs around the country in addition to assisting Shiva world-wide.
Maria is also a certified Power Pilates Teacher having completed over 800 hours in all her Pilates Education courses and training with teachers Janine Galati, Erin Horst, Bob Liekens, Mari Winsor, Brooke Siler and Elizabeth Larkam.
Maria Garre is a graduate of the esteemed Kripalu School of Ayurveda, with over 800 hours of hands-on -training in this science, which specializes in wellness and self-healing throught time-tested techniques. She has had the honor of not only receiving the transmission of the healing power of Ayurveda in India she has also studied under the guidance of Dr. Lad, Robert Svoboda, Dr.John Douillard, Dr. Avinash Lele, David Frawley, among many others. She offers workshops and private consultations in Ayurveda blending her knowledge of Yoga and Tantra to design radiant living options for individuals.

Kristen Townsend
Yoga and Pilates Instructor

Kristen began asana practice and movement exploration at 18 months of age through dance, gymnastics, and figure skating in which she spent 15 years as a competitive figure skater. As a result of a knee injury, she began to regularly attend yoga classes, which aided in a multi-layered healing process. After inchworming her way through many yoga classes and pursuing more knowledge about this wonderful practice, Kristen joined Shiva Rea’s Prana Flow Yoga Teacher Training program under the mentorship of Maria Garre. Kristen has since traveled to study with Shiva Rea, Ana Forrest, and Saul David Ray.
In 2004 Kristen began practicing Pilates to enhance her training on the ice. After experiencing the wonderful enhancement that Pilates made in her skating, she sought Pilates mat certification through Power Pilates to teach it to her own skating students. As she continued to explore her body through movement, she has developed an appreciation for all that the human body can do, and has learned that healing comes through movement. Kristen has completed both Basic Mat and Intermediate Mat certification through Power Pilates.
Andrew McAuley
Yoga Instructor

Andrew took his first steps down the path of yoga at the age of 17. He fell in love with the spiritual apsects of the practice and focused his studies on life’s higher purpose and personal growth, finding strong appreciation for the teachings of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Taoism. At 26, Andrew was inspired to increase his knowledge and personal practice of yoga. It was this spark that led him to his first training in Power Vinyasa Flow in 2006. His on going adventure down the path of yoga led him to complete his 500+ hr certification in Prana Flow Yoga, cultivated by his teacher Shiva Rea, through Samudra: global school of living yoga. Andrew is now a mentor and assistant for Shiva Rea’s program and a guest teacher at several 200 hour affiliate programs. He currently resides in Leesburg, VA where he owns his own massage therapy practice, Shakti Pat: center for conscious living.
Andrew’s first rule for teaching is compassion. He works hard to create a sense of fellowship and community in his classes. He welcomes the opportunity to lead students of any level into a deeper realization of their personal journey through yoga. When you come to one of Andrew’s classes, expect to be greeted with distinct laughter and a warm smile. His classes embark on an evolutionary journey of Prana Flow, while honoring the simplicity that yoga should bring into our lives. If you want a class where you can explore the infinite potential of the human experience from the safety and security of your yoga mat, allow Andrew to be your guide! Awaken into pure desire!
